Without 10-inch heels you can't enter a club.
Without a highschool certificate you can't enter the workforce.
Without an opposite-sex partner you can't get a marriage certificate.
Without a visa you can't go to another country.
Borders, barriers, stop signs? We have so many worlds on this little earth.
Christians say they have the ticket to heaven.
Moslems won't count a Buddhist's effort to make a mosque as a virtue.
When did we get the time to group?

To hell with ordinary.
Disney princesses, nice dresses and long shiny tresses. When I was little I'd watch a few Disney movies where the princesses would go through some kind of troubled conflict and end up with a prince. Of course I never thought of it then, but now I think it's some sick way of embedding the idea that women are incomplete and weak without a man by her side. To some extent, I guess this is true, but most of the 'princesses' in the movie would come to a union with their man with incredible ease (in the end). Of course, it's disney magic and fairy dust.
Sometimes, I'd root for the antagonist in the movie, just so there would be more conflict- hence more fun to watch! Then I'd scare myself thinking that thinking that would make me an evil person.
Anyway, I think the Disney Princess Love love is boring. The Rome and Juliet, the Dan and Serena, Hero and Claudio. This is off the point but, it seems like Josh Schwartz is channeling or probably got his inspiration from Shakespeare's plot structure in Much Ado About Nothing.
So I say to hell with ordinary.
You can have a thousand dinner dates with candlelight, enough to make your stomach turn in sickness. But it takes more than a meal to know that your stomach really flips when you meet someone. Small talk, promises and words of caress; i'd choose a good witty banter any day. There is a difference. There is a difference between those people that you are happy to be with, and someone that you are happy with. It takes time, it takes effort but in the end I think it will be worth it to find the unique, the unusual, the ones that doesn't come everyday.
Bisa bertemu pasangan yang cocok dengan prinsip-prinsip hidup mu. Rasanya itu udah paling penting. Tapi terlupakan, kecocokan dengan jati diri.

Denger-denger Tanah Air
I'm no expert on the music scene in Jakarta or Indonesia in general, but it was one of the first things I took note of since my arrival back home.
What strikes me is not many people actually know which artists produce their own music and which artists don't. The singer is the star and then that's it. If people are more aware, there would be more appreciation of the artists hard work.
Then it's the radio. One station had Fergie's 'Labels or Love' in their Top 10. That song was just too outdated to be on top 10!
But I noticed a lot of new musicians and more people being experimental and brave with their music. Brave in the sense that I see political views readily being expressed in their lyrics.
A DISAPPOINTING experience with hip-hop though. I met someone that completely stereotyped hip-hop. Big baggy jeans, baseball cap and an attitude that screams "i'm the shit" does not spell out hip-hop. Hip-hop has since evolved and can be expressed in many forms.
One musician's journey that inspired me was DJ Andezzz. I think he's a good example of how hard work can amount to something. Check out his music and lil bio here.
Some of our musicians are killin' it abroad... Karina is the lead-singer of the band "Young and the Restless" and check out their performance here.
Listening to music around town has become more enjoyable anyway, some of the venues whipped up around here are getting better and better. Just so long as they're being used for the right things.
Bottom Line: kudos for emerging artists and experiment, BOOHOO stereotypes and laziness.

I wish I had more talent, I wish i got more skill..
Instead I just got lots of free time, a freaky mind and an occasional broken heart.
The fruits of my labour are bared(?) here.
